MWCCL and BCCL, Stratford-upon-Avon - 03/12/2016
CLC Striders ladies (pictured ) performed superbly at Stratford on Saturday in the second of four Midland Cross Country League Division 2 fixtures on a very hilly and testing course.
The striders A team led by Liza Barry in 7th place, ladies captain Rachel Vines 17th, Amelia Mullins 40th, and Amanda Steer 42nd acquitted themselves well to finish 3rd team on the day. In the first fixture the ladies team finished 4th, and this now gives them every chance of gaining promotion to Division 1 with two fixtures remaining. CLC Striders also finished first Gloucestershire club on the day!
Meanwhile in the same race CLC Striders masters team also finished an excellent 3rd place. Other notable performances were had by Emma Abbey 92nd, Nikki Smith 112th, and Amy Underdown 127th.
The men’s team who are also in Division Two of the Birmingham League put in a fine performance finishing 11th team on the day and 10th team overall in the league standings. This also placed them first Gloucestershire team on the day.
The Striders men’s A team fought hard on this tough course and were led home by Will Ferguson in 13th, Iain Porter 23rd, Sam Baylis 36th, Chris Driskell 72nd, Jon Howes 125th and veteran John Willson in 146th place.
The Striders men’s B team all ran excellent races and were led home by Club captain Joel Freeland in 152nd, Andy Brookes 157th, Clark Lawson 171st, Bradley Coates 216th, Chris Thomas just behind in 217th, and Dave Street 220th. The Striders mens B team finished in 12th place on the day, and are now lying 12th overall in the B team competition.
