Bourton 10km - 24th February 2013
As the runners headed out of the village Darren Milne had put himself into a strong position for a fast time. Milne worked to maintain pace and completed the course in 33:28 in 10th place. Newcomer Andrew Jones paced the race well and stormed home in an impressively good time of 36:01 in 37th place.
Jon Howes and Rich Cannock had a battle for 3rd scorer, as they went into the final lap of the village, Cannock had the edge however Howes managed to work his way through finishing in 75th place in a time of 38:38, Cannock followed in 38:41.
Both were closely followed by Jon Bird in 39:04 and Damian Cuke, who continues to improve with each race. Cuke finished in 89th place in a time of 39:12.
The Striders women also had some excellent performances. The first woman strider to finish was Amanda Steer. Steer set her target pace early on and managed to maintain this until 8km where she found a second gear and finished quickly, running 41:45, a massive PB and the LV40 club record.
Second lady strider was Amelia Mullins, who although seeming to enjoy the race a bit too much, ran a speedy time of 44:12. Of the ladies, Amelia was followed by Nikki Smith in a welcome return to racing in 46:44.
Other excellent performances came from Dave Mayo (42:35), Claire Sansome (53:06) and Duncan Kay with a big PB time of 53:23.</p>
