BCCL Fixture II Plock Court - 1st December 2012
19 Striders turned out to run for their club which was enough for three teams on the day, an impressive achievement for only the club’s second season in the league.
Having placed 11th after the first race, the Striders’team put in another solid performance to finish 10th on the day and move to 10th place in the league overall.
First back for Team Striders was Rich Dare who shrugged off a bad cough to put in a gutsy performance and finish in 29th place, and he was followed by Will Ferguson running in his first race for the club since January. Ferguson made a steady start but worked his way through to finish in 36th place. Next back was Driskell who got stuck in and went some way to maikng amends for a below par performance at Leamington to finish in 42nd place. He was followed by Dave Smeath, who ran well to finish in 80th place; Jamie Paterson who ran well and finished impressively to take 104th place, and the final first team scorer was Rich Shardlow who as always gave 110% to claim 110th place.
Notable performances from outside the A team came from Jo Maddocks, Damien Cuke and James Coull who ran well to place inside the top 150 as did Jon Cooke, Jon Bird and JJ Willson. Meanwhile James Waller had his work cut out to get into the race having got stuck in traffic, Waller only arrived two minutes before the start and was forced to play catch-up but still finished inside the top 200.
Finally thanks, must also go to team manager Phil Jowett for filming the race and sorting out discs; Hollie, Penny and Stuart for their vocal support and flapjack and to Tony Stanton for taking photographs.
