There were 24 CLC Striders who took part in Stroud Half marathon on Sunday 24 October 2010. Conditions couldn?t have been more perfect leading to personal bests for many of the squad.
Nick Barry in his Strider?s debut made light work of the course, finishing 10th overall in a super speedy PB time of 1:12:59, smashing the club record to boot! Next to follow was the ever improving Dave Smeath who smashed his PB and finished in a time of 1:20:05. Third male to finish for the club Wayne Usher in 1:23.40, closely followed by Billy Bradshaw who put in a solid run, finishing in 1:25.16. Other notable performances from the men came from dark horse Rich Cannock (1:27:15) and Simon Dee (1:32:54), both running a half marathon debut.
Liza Barry started off hard and stayed strong throughout, demontstrating her amazing endurance and improving form. She lead the women striders home in 10th place in a personal best time of 1:24:31. Liza was followed by Rachel Vines who achieved yet another PB of 1:28:15. Third home for the women was Nikki Smith who had a storming run to finish in 1:38:17, closely followed by Lucy McNulthy in 1:39:33 and Nicola Christian in 1:44:38.
The women?s team finished in second place. Other notable performances came from Trudy Jones, who finished with a smile on her face in 1:53:41 in her half marathon debut; and Tracey Densham smashing the 2 hour barrier finishing in 1:54:32
